Loss of logging software communication with 6400M

After a six week hiatus from using the radio, I have run into an issue. I am running W3FJP logging software with my 6400M. I have never had an issue with radio communicating with logging software (W3FJP contest software is a different story!) until I started things up again. I am running Windows 10 (computer not up-gradable to 11). I don't get either the band or frequency getting to the logging software. I have tried changing com port, re-loaded the parameters from my computer, checked the parameters against the ones on the W3FJP software itself, but nothing has worked. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. The FLEX just up-graded to the new software and that made no difference. HELP!

Can you post screen shots of SmartSDR CAT and the CAT control window from W3FJB.

Also, look at the Com Port you have specified in SmartSDR CAT. Does it show W3FJB connected? If not, then you want to do a close look at the com port numbers.

If those are ok, then submit a support ticket.

All I had needed to do previously was enter the parameters in the logging software and it worked just fine. It gave me the band, mode and frequency which is all I really need. I will look at some of the above when I have a chance to sit down at the computer for a while.

Hi Craig, In N3FJP, go to Settings, Rig Interface... Select Flex API and click on the Test button. No com port is required when using the API.

I do that and all I get is the Mode. I used to be able to click on any spots and the Flex would go right there. Sure cannot figure out what has changed in the last two months.

Now I am really frustrated. I updated the DAX, SDR, and CAT on my computer. I have put both the radio and computer onto the same cabled network. I cannot get the software to find the radio. I get a Blue button when doing all the tests on the three panels on my computer but when I try to connect they cannot find the radio. AARRGGHH! It appears I am doing something basic wrong but cannot figure out what it is. I changed nothing when I turned the equipment back on after that 6 week hiatus. The radio did update and there were lots of updates on the computer but I did not change anything in N3FJP's software nor on the radio. Any additional suggestions would be most gratefully accepted!

Hi Craig, to determine if the problem is the network or radio/computer, try plugging the radio directly into the computer. No router, switch or any other networking gear. Reboot the computer, then restart the radio. When you get the solid green light, start SmartSDR.

If that does not work, make sure that you are not using a static IP address. If it still doesn't work, submit a help desk ticket.
