Is this a real issue?

Hello,

I’m trying to resolve an issue I am having here.

First some background, I was running two slices on the same band, using two instances of WSJT-X (FT8) each associated with a slice A and B. This is on a 6600 using FDX. Slice A is matched with DAX Ch 1 and Ant. 1, slice B is matched with DAX Ch. 2 and Ant. 2. I figured this would be a way to see the differences on how the two different antennas attached to each Ant. port receives signals, assuming both SCU’s gains are calibrated similarly.

Now the issue. Just for experimental reasons I put both slices on the same freq, say 14.074, and switched Slice B to Ant. 1. So now both slices are on Ant. 1, (I would presume using a single SCU at this point). The WSJT-X that is on Slice A decodes all the stations received, WSJT-X on slice B only decodes a small sampling of the received stations. Now here is where it gets interesting if I switch slice B to DAX Ch. 3 and change that instance of WSJT-X to Ch. 3 it now decodes all stations received matching what is seen on Slice A.

Seeing that the only thing that was changed was the DAX Ch. from 2 to 3 why was there a change in stations decoded? I checked all the settings on my computer between audio DAX channels 2 and 3 they are identical.

Someone must have a logical explanation for this that I’m not aware of.

If possible, I would like to have another station try this setup and see if you observe the same issue.

    Hi George

That should work just fine. I do it for MSK144 and FT8 and FT4 on 6M all the time.

In your case, it sounds like the audio stream from DAX to that copy of WSJT was corrupt. It could have been DAX or it can also be WSJTx.

Try restarting DAX. If that doesn't work, reboot the radio and the computer and retest and see how it goes.

If that doesn't fix it, get a support ticket opened.
