SmartSDR v3.4.21 aborts with Unhandled Error (non UI)

I've just installed SmartSDR on a Windows 10 machine. When I start it, I get the following and there is no audio. If I click on PC Audio, I get it again, so I infer that it's something to do with audio driver. I ran the steps to manually reinstall the various DAX drivers, but it makes no difference. I also tried deleting the sesions, and even a total reinstall.

Any ideas?

Turns out that it was due to the absence of the media drivers.

Like most Windows PCs sold in the UK and EU, mine has Windows 10 'N'. This does not have Media Player bundled with it, or the media drivers. Tim, W4TME pointed me to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions-c1c6fffa-d052-8338-7a79-a4bb980a700a to get the optional Media Pack installed and now it's fine.

Hi Gareth, If you haven't done so already, try a factory reset after exporting your profiles.

If that doesn't help, submit a help desk ticket.

If after upgrading to 3.4.23 you still have the same issue, please open a support ticket.

OK, I tried the following:

• upgraded to 3.4.23
• did a factory reset on the radio
• deleted any potentially conflicting props (voicebanana and com0com)
• uninstalled 3.4.23 and removed all traces from file system and registry
• re-installed 3.4.23

The problem persists, so I'll raise a help-desk ticket

Incidentally, Smart SDR Mac drives the radio with no problem, so I think we can exclude this.

I use both all the time so I doubt they are the conflict.

Let us know what they find.
