Hello Everyone,

Is there any way to connect a PC audio device to SmartSDR without first configuring it as the default audio device for the PC?

    Unfortunately, no.

I have submitted this as an idea, it is under review.

    Hi Bob,

You can redirect any windows source audio device to another sink device using properties and the Listen TAB.

You will just need to enable the appropriate DAX channel on your receive slice.

The workaround is to run a virtual audio switcher and have your PC default audio devices the 'in and out' from the switcher.

I use VB-Audio 'Banana'. It takes some playing around with, but it is very useful and flexible.

There are many YouTube videos on how to set it up on a PC.

+1 for Banana, I use Potato on any installation. Plenty of flexibility.

I make use of the onboard 'tape recorder' a lot.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate all of the feedback, comments and ideas.

It seems like VoiceMeeter Banana or Potato is the way to go. The basic installation is easy enough, but I haven't found any guidance or example for configuring these tools with amateur radio applications. If anyone can point me to an available resource, It would be really helpful.

    Hi Bob,

Look at my screenshot, it should be enough to give you some ideas about integration with the Flex.

    Hello N5NHJ,

Thank you for the polite slap.

It appears that you are connecting your microphone to DAX Audio TX and I suspect that is the larger part of what I was missing.

    Hi Bob,

Please forgive me if I gave the impression of slapping you, it was definitely not my scope.

In reality, the screenshot shows a possible configuration that is indeed all you needed.

Happy you have got things working, feel free to ask if you need more support.
