Urban Beam with 6400

Anyone using an SDA2000 controller with an Urban Beam with their 6400? How did you choose the transceiver since Flex is not listed? And what about the settings for the USB port?

For Transceiver control, use the Kenwood Transceiver in the SDA200. 9600 Baud.

I did that but it is still not tracking.

I am using a USB to RS232 (Tripplite) with the Flex cable but still no joy. Any ideas?

I found it.

I went to settings but the USB adapter I put in there is not showing up.

Bad or wrong USB FTDI adapter.

You need a USB to RS232 adapter with an FTDI chip in it. The cables Flex sell works great.

I had to plug the other Flex USB cable end into the SteppIR S12 transceiver adapter cable needed for the SDA2000

I got the Flex cable usb to rs232 interface and it works perfectly. The urban beam is tracking. what game changer this is!!!

Yeah, the TrippLite cable uses the PL2303 chipset which does not work. Reason is the PL2303 does not have a way to uniquely identify each cable.

The FTDI chipset has unique serial numbers in each cable so they can always be enumerated properly and remembered by the radio.
