Heading towards 12 years of having a FlexRadio in my shack, and 14th season of blogging
https://k9zw.wordpress.com/2008/10/06/new-flex-radio-flex-5000a-on-the-way-for-the-k9zw-shack/
So I'm in my 12th year of having a FlexRadio as my main radio.
When I wrote about the Flex-5000A I'd ordered by blog "With Varying Frequency" wasn't quite two years old. As of today I'm starting my 14th season of writing "With Varying Frequency" with over 1700 posts published. https://k9zw.wordpress.com/2020/01/21/entering-my-fourteenth-year-writing-with-varying-frequency/
I'd like to thank everyone here at the FlexRadio Community (and the predecessor "reflectors") for being the greater part of the inspiration and readership that has made documenting my radio journey a worthwhile endeavor. You've made it worthwhile and kept the exercise from being an echo chamber. I'm greatly appreciative for the collective impetus.
You can catch the blog at: https://k9zw.wordpress.com/
Thank you again, and 73!

"An inspiration for us all"? I've been (and continue to be) inspired by a number of people. K9ZW is not among them.

Following up on the introspection on the "inspiring" ham theme:

and from my friend Jeff KE9V

Who are you radio inspiring these days?

Sometimes it is the little things that inspire us. I have been a ham since 1970 and have been active all that time. There have been lulls in activity over the years, however. Little things like job, marriage, arrival of a child and other handy excuses help slow down ham activity.
I managed to retire in June of 2018, and as my ham radio activity started to pick back up, I spent some time in my buddy Dave's (W4WKU) shack messing with his Flex 6400. He inspired me to get one as well (not to mention the inspiration I got from the Flex itself...). Once I had the thing and started using it, I was inspired by Enzo, IW7DMH who wrote an Arduino library for interfacing with the Flex TCP/IP API.
This chain of inspiration led me to experiment with the API which led me to build a Flex control box that I call a TeensyMaestro. This is the most ambitious homebrew project I have ever attempted, and it all started with some small inspiring actions of others. I hope I have inspired others to attempt this or another homebrew project - it is really rewarding to use something you built yourself!
Steve, thanks for the shout-out in your blog, I really appreciate it!

Len, KD0RC
