DAX names not correct in WSJT-X

Member ✭✭
I am having the DAX name problem with WSJT-X. I am currently running a 6300, V2.4.9. I have installed the lastest 64 bit WSJT-X. I have uninstalled all the DAX drivers, deleted my APP Data file for WSJT-X, reinstalled the DAX drivers and still when I go to configure my soundcard input for WSJT-X the DAX names do not match what I show in the sound settings of my computer. My computer lists all the names as DAX Reserved Audio RX #. In the drop down menu for WSJT-X it is listed as DAX Audio RX #, so the WSJT-X can not open the input device.. I have no problem with CAT configures just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the DAX names are incorrect in the Windows Audio Panel. If that is the case, the names can be changed by clicking on the channel in the audio panel and at the properties, click on the errant name and edit same.

Can you post some screen shots of what you are seeing? That would be pretty helpful so we can see what you are seeing.
I highly recommend using a great free tool called GreenShot to take screen shots.

Ed,
I suggest that you down load and install SSDR v 2.6.0 which will up date the DAX drivers and should fix most DAX naming problems..

Still no luck.. same issue..
This is what WSJT-X is telling me..

Here is my windows sound devices pane..
As you can see the active DAX channel is DAX Reserved Audio RX 1,,
Here in lies the problem.. When I got to the Audio settings in WSJT-X that is not available to select as my input device..

It is as if my input and output device selections are flipped..

You need to flip the com ports around. I visualize it like this: For each virtual cable, there are two ends. The "reserved" end plugs into the Flex. The other end plugs into the computer.
Find the "companion" port that does not have "reserved" in the name and select that for your WSJT-X audio in and out.

Ok, I did just that and I still get the same error from WSJT-X. I even went into the Windows sound control and verified that DAX AUDIO RX 1 is correct by selecting the "Listen to this device" and had the Flex receive playing thru my computer speakers. I am beginning to wonder if my soundcard is bad.
Thanks again

Ed,
I think maybe you have not scrolled through all of the devices in the lists..
The devices labeled RESERVED are reserved for the radio end of a DAX pair and you should NOT select them in WSJT-X or any app. If you scroll through the complete list of WSJT-X available input devices you should find DAX Audio RX 1. You will also find it in the windows audio device manager under the Recording tab. Like wise the WSJT-X list of output devices should include DAX Audio TX and that can be found in the windows audio device manger under the Playback tab.

Yep, scrolled thru all the devices, so it would seem that I am selecting the correct ones, not the reserved. I still get the same error. I even checked my shack computer to make sure I had it correct. Like I said I wonder if it is a soundcard issue.
Thanks for all the help, it is appreciated.
