not gonna work for anything requiring bi directional communication. Latency is too high for traditional satellite internet. needs to be a terrestrial connection.

FYI, AT&T wireless internet (home phone + internet via cellular) won't work either, at least to connect your radio to smartlink.

All I want to do is get my 6400m and 6300 to work on my desk top not remote0

IT WORKS, That is my setup.
1. Must be a buisness account with a fixed IP address.
2. Some Hotels and restraints do not control the UDP traffic very well and do not work, It is allways worth talking to the hotel's tech support.
The connection ALLWAYS reads as POOR. but it does work. I have been using it for 6mo.

It should work locally without any problems. The internet is only needed to download updates 73 Winston1

That should be no problem1

My daughter's Mediacom crashed, I used my AT&T Galaxy S10 as a wifi hotspot to finish two CWT Sessions. I connected both my Maestro and my laptop to the internet .0

Hi David
Internet is not required at all for 'normal' HF operation. You only require it for software updates and if you want to use your station while you are at McDonald's!

You may want to check with your provider, in the past IP addresses were available to residential customers. That's the first step, theoretically as long as you port forward what is needed for SmartLink it should authenticate. That won't resolve the latency issue and I'm not sure what is except able latency to receive, you'll have to reduce things like display FPS and waterfall rate, DAXIQ etc. Xmitting is another story. You're likely on Echostar 19 in geostationary orbit 23,200 miles up there and earth to sat, sat to earth just takes so long and the laws of physics will never change. Technology does and there is another new satellite going up in the spring that will surely have improved throughput. No clue yet if it's more compression tricks, time will tell.
