What is the functionality of the HWALC in SDR V3?  Does it automatically control the input power level to an amp?

    Do you have a V3 ?

I dont think so - FRS will maybe publish V3 next month. Alpha tester dont answer any question so you have to go next weekend Orlando Hamcation and ask FRS.

    Sorry

HW ALC is ALC feedback to an amplifier.

If you haven't, check out Section 27 in the SmartSDR fro Windows Software Users Guide.

No, it just keeps you from overdriving older amplifiers in the voice modes. Please read FlexRadio manuals, they explain this exhaustingly Keith W7ZAC
