6600 Split issue

When operating split with receive slice A and transmit slice B the signal strength of A decreases when engaging slice B. This just started doing this. I am not sure I am overlooking something or I have an issue.

Sometimes when you open the 2nd slice the audio output of the 2nd combines with the first and makes it more difficult to hear if you're listening to a weak signal.  I always mute the 2nd slice unless I'm listening to the pileup and the DX signal is strong enough to be heard in the output.  You can also leave the DX signal "centered" between L and R ears (speakers) and move the slice 2 off to the right ear - that often helps when trying to hear both at once.  That is my experience, anyway.  Hope it helps.

That is a TERRIBLE Option. ANY CW operator who is trying to work a DX station working Split, knows the POWER of being able to listen to the DX station AND the pileup. This functionality is nowhere near ideal, and in fact is far from ideal. There must be a better way…. For low band DXing, the Flex's loss of sensitivity (as in this example)… will swallow the DX station right up to where they are not distinguishable in the noise. (Even when radio is properly adjusted)…. Just another "Con" against Flex (for weak signal DXing)….

This is a pretty old post. I would suggest you start a new one and see if others are experiencing what you are.

I know you've had your radio for some time. Is this something new that you just noticed?
