Make a Linux compatible version of SmartSDR

The API documentation is available and is open. There is a library (FlexLib) available for the .net environment if you wanted to do the conversion to linux. Note that SmartSDR uses FlexLib.
The native API is text based, so that may be a better place to start. With the API, you have access to absolutely every function of the radio.

The FlexRadio API is open for anyone to build their own client to work with the radio.
If someone from the Linux community wants to get started FlexRadio can help to point you in the right direction.

Well, gonna hafta pick a Linux version. There are enough differences between distro’s to make it complicated.

My 2 cents on John's very accurate comments.
Pick Debian on a PI and start there. That likely has your greatest install base.

Very good points here, thank you for information. I was poking around the API docs (and on the radio itself) and I think a lot can be done with that. I've got about zero personal time to mess with this, but I thinking about figuring out how to interface this with something like CubicSDR. A lot can be done once the IQ stream is underway.0

The interesting part of using a FlexRadio and building a client, you do not have to even touch the IQ streams. All of that is handled in the radio. As an example, the panadatper / waterfall is nothing more than a movie. My guess is interfacing to a FlexRadio would be much simpler than handling a CubicSDR.
