I may have cracked it

I have never been happy with the reception of digital modes and *may* have cracked it. Even if I have not, I am going to mention what I did just in case it can help others.

Modern sound cards are too smart by far. They include all sorts of sound effects and adjustments. All I did was to check and make sure that all adjustments were turned off so that the sound coming out is as native as possible.

An obvious idea/thought which only just occurred to me...now *that* is growing old (see https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/getting-old-sucks-dont-do-it-guys)

A very good point/idea indeed.  Now getting old is this:  I'm a software guy... write software all day long and on my development computer I am not even sure where I would *find* the sound card options!  :-)  sigh...

Yes, turn off all the fancy reverb, bass boost and other effects.  Running digital over consumer audio devices can be troublesome.  One of the big pluses of the 6000 series is that you never have to use sound cards again!
