As I understand it Flex responds to numbers. If a person doesn't want the fill in option then if it appears they just don't have to use it. So start the vote and tell flex if you want it. Only need is the people who want it. I will start as number one. I might never use it but I would love the option to use or not to use, makes me feel like I am in charge! So there is number 1.

It's not real clear but to add VOTES you have to click the "LIKE" button at the top.

Also if you click on the "vote count" number you can see who has voted.

So far there is only ONE vote.

    Hello Dale..

for me this fill in the pan display is one of the most wanted items in the new Smart SDR...

i used it all the time in the old Power SDR....much easier to see the Panorama Display..

all the amateurs with a new Flex 6000 series here in Holland who i asked ,want that option...

so come on Flexradio......what is is the problem ??

I agree, I would like to see the panadapter filled in also. Is that a feature that will be in a future release?

Ok as you now see this want is "UNDER COSIDERATION". But if you really want this keep posting. What does this show you? There is power in expressing your opinion. I got my wish with the waterfall remembering it was turned off!!!!!!!!

Filling in that portion of the pan adapter will likely come at the price of performance. The data to fill that portion of the screen has to be addressed and will increase the network overhead unless they can do some magic from the client side of the application. If there is a network hit to make this feature request a reality, I don't want it.

I miss it too (after upgrading to a 6500 from a 5000).  The display was so much smoother and easier to view - it just flowed beautifully.  If made available as a selectable option, a user could disable this function should there prove to be too big a hit on network traffic.  Best of both worlds?

I don't think the network overhead would be affected -- if I understand the request, this is just a display change in the SmartSDR app.  It would probably be the video card that would need to do more work to fill in the gap below the line.  I would only be interested in this feature if the transparency could be adjusted as Al NN4ZZ mentioned below.  Sounds pretty interesting though.  I'm gonna click "like" on this topic.

Good idea! Either a slide bar or a box-and-arrows interface like we have for setting TX filter frequencies.

    Hi Ken,
Agree, and I think the Panadapter FILL slider should probably be added to the DISPLAY box and follow the same slider format as the other sliders there.   I just did the original mockup to show the concept.  I'm sure the FRS developers will determine the best locations and match the format if they decide to add this feature.

Does this enhancement does anything but visible. Being a DX'er and contester I don't see the effort to do this.

    Hi James,
Yes, this is another one of the enhancement ideas around improving the GUI.   Some would suggest that improved visibility does make DXing and Contesting easier and more efficient.   There are many more similar ideas.  Here are a just few of them:

    https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/idea_to_improve_the_swr_and_power_scale_readability

    https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/brighter_linework_in_panadapter_for_improved_legibi...

    https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/difficulty-in-grabbing-slider-bar-controls-on-highe...

So while certainly not the top priority, they but may be worth a look and your vote if you agree.

Any word if this is being pursued? I loved this feature on the PowerSDR on my 5000, and REALLLLLY love the KE9NS T11 where you can adjust how much as mentioned above!! I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 6300, and to be honest, I hate to say this, but I  actually kind of like KE9NS Psdr enhanced software better than what I am seeing on the SmartSDR  so far.  I also like that on PowerSDR almost everything you use normally had its own button, so we will see.

I must say I prefer the present panadaptor without the fill, so if it is considered worth doing it must be an option, and not a replacement for the current display. My two cent worth 73 Winston

I really wish FRS would leak a few screen shot teasers of future GUI enhancements.

I'm for any look and feel improvement that doesn't cost in terms of performance or usability. Even better if there's an on/off configuration item. I'm clicking the vote button.

I wonder if this background fill could actually be encoded with some additional information such. I'm saying this but don't have any suggestions to offer. Yet. :) Can it somehow show the agc threshold setting? That's another feature I've been hoping could be introduced.

One thing that I noticed when I had my 1500 was that the "fill under panadapter" option ate up a bunch of bandwidth.

I also like the cleaner look of just the single line for the panadapter.  it keeps the background cleaner for future enhancements.  But to each their own.

As an option, it could be one of many desirable GUI improvements.  Some improvements, such as user-defined colors and contrast for meters and other displays would be very helpful for those with color discernment issues.

There are several threads about possible GUI enhancements.

This would be great but what I'd really like to see is a darn SQUELCH that worked in all modes.  With a 6700 and 8 slices, they are useless without a squelch.

Give us the ability to change the color, transmit and receive separately. Similar to PowerSDR.

Come on already, Flex, it's been 3+ years!

Not only the AGC-T but also SQUELCH level and at least two horizontal and two vertical marker lines helping with measurments.  Squelch should work than in al modes.

I think one of the main differences between the pre-Signature and the Signature series is that most of the GUI processing occurs on the computer in the client. Network bandwidth probably wouldn't be affected and, unless some additional functionality were included, it seems a simple GUI function.

Granted, if there's no additional function (which I hope there is) then it's just a dress-up for the GUI. I think the GUI could stand a new set of clothes.

Maybe what is really missing is the level of customization or personalization that many programs have included for years.

Well three years and no pan filland no WAN ! But Ver. 2 is finally mentioned. As avid a flexercasvi have been over the last 10 years I have let the 6500 sit while we get Wan. I am starting to travel headed into retirement bought a 35 ft RV and putting my Go box together. Question is do I have Wan with Flex, go to a competitor who has Wan or go with td from RV . That is the question. Make note WIRES X is great ht DX! By the way
