CAT has stopped working

I cannot get SmartCAT 1.2.2 working. I completely uninstalled CAT, rebooted, reinstalled CAT, and rebooted and still get the "CAT has stopped working" message. Any thoughts? I should note SmartSDR 1.0.2.4 installed without issue.

Senior moment. I have an iMAC with Win 7 Pro that I use with the 6700 and I have another PC I use with 3k and 1500 but I also installed SmartSDR and SmartCAT on that PC. Guess I can't have CAT running on both the iMAC and the PC at the same time while they are both on the same network.

This error indicates that the virtual port driver did not start and CAT crashed when it could not talk to the driver to get the available virtual com ports. There is no reason why multiple SmartSDR CAT clients can not communicate with the radio at one time. I would go into the service manager and try to manually start the FabulaTech service. If it fails to start, then uninstall CAT and REBOOT the Mac. The re-install SmartSDR CAT.

Tim is correct, CAT is limited to one instance on a particular machine but can run simultaneously on multiple machines across the network. The real question is why the virtual port service stopped. BobT

Tim, SmartCAT has stopped working despite numerous restarts. I have uninstalled it and now it will not reinstall as the installer gets "interrupted". One of my security programs (after a ransomware attack) appears to have changed the "virtual serial port kit service" from automatic to manual. What now? Win 8 64bit. Andrew
