We have a remote 6600M and when we use SmartLink or AetherSDR to access it. We see "WIDE" in the top-right of the spectrum display

SmartLink shows that it's slice B and MULTIFLEX is activated. The radio is on 20m and the WIDE does not appear in SmartLink if we are on 20m. On other bands, we see "WIDE".

If this is because the radio is slice A and when we operate remote on a different band, the filters don't match, hence the "WIDE?

Can I remotely disable MULTIFLEX as we don't need it? I suspect that the radio itself is using slice A which is causing this.

Sorry for asking as my past experience is with two 6400 radios, which don't have a front panel.

Hi Bruno, yes, the front panel is a client and takes one of the multiFlex connections. If the front panel and the SmartLink clients are both on the same band and antenna, Wide will not appear because the SCU (front end) can use the same bandpass filter.

Since you are using your 6600M remotely, you should disable the front panel so that it does not occupy a client connection. You could also put it into SmartControl mode. Then, when you log on remotely, you will not be in multiFlex mode. Wide will then only appear when you zoom a panadapter out far enough to require bypassing the bandpass filter for that SCU.

I don't have an M model or a Maestro, so I'm not sure how to disable the front panel but the Maestro manual will have that info.

Bruno, yes, you can disable multiflex as well. I'm not in front of a windows computer, but it is in one of the first MENU settings.
