Unable to use PTT relay buffer with Flex 8600 and Collins 30L1

Options

I installed a relay buffer kit, designed by Young Kim, in my 30L1 in order to key it using my 8600. As soon as I plug in the RCA plug from the Flex to the 30L1, the amplifier is keyed in TX. My vintage transmitters using mechanical relays are no problem.

Has anyone experienced this issue using a solid state relay buffer.

Thanks for your comments

    Just a thought…

To change TX polarity in SmartSDR:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Go to Radio Setup.
    3. Select the TX tab.
    4. Look for the RCA TX Output Polarity settings.
    5. Set each output to either:
      • Active Low (default for most amplifiers)
      • Active High (for equipment requiring a positive-going key signal)

Thanks, Geoff. It made no difference.

Are you sure you have it plugged in the right place? TX1, 2 or 3?

If you take a voltmeter and measure the voltage on the RCA connector, what do you get? It should be 5 or 12VDC.

My apologies, folks for the bandwidth on this problem. I do indeed have 12 volts and all is well on the Flex end. I am experiencing an unusual problem with the 30L1 amplifier.
    Thanks for your patience.
