Aurora/Maestro Power setting/Power meter
while power setting with SmartSDR works without issues, I can set the output power with Maestro (C) to not more than 100W. But, if I set to 100W, the power meter shows an output of 500W. When I set the power to 10W, the meter shows about 50W.
It seems, the power button is wrong by the factor 5.
This is a little bit annoying, especially in bands with a power limit. E.g. the 60m-band is limited to 15W here in Europe. So I have to set the output power to 3W to be legal.
Is this a bug or a feature? Did others have similar observations?

yes i thought the same thing; aurora uses % NOT WATTS like the 8600M!!

I believe they are both in percentage. Nowhere is there a statement that the numbers on the scale refer to Watts.

I see… Thank you. That explains everything. I mostly use the Maestro, which does not display the percent sign in the TX Band Settings, as the SmartSDR software does.

This is from the User Guide:
RF Power slider control: Moving the slider control to the right increases the RF power
output. A value of 0 will not produce any RF output. The scale, from 0 – 100 approximates
RF output wattage. But the scale in marked in neither Watts or Percent.

Hi Geoff,
you are right. It seems, the description depends on the hardware and it's age. Both my Maestro manual and the 6400-manual state "Sets the output power for typical transmissions." For the Aurora, I do not have a manual. It seems, the only document is the Quick Start Guide.
I think, we can both agree, that percentage of max power and power in Watt are identical on a 100W-transceiver. With the appearance of the Aurora series the company had to make a decision. From my point of view this was the wrong decision, but I can live with it. It is easy to calculate with a factor of 5. Let's hope, the next generation isn't a 783W-Transceiver with a weird factor of 7.83 ;-)
