v4.2.18 update problem

Today I received information that a new version, v.4.2.18, is available for my Flex 8600M. After clicking update, a message appears about an updating problem. I'm sending a screenshot. How can I install the update correctly?

I would recommend that you open a helpdesk ticket if you can't get it to work.

This looks eerily similar to an issue we had in an earlier version that should have been cleared in your first update (maybe this is your first update). In case that is what's going on, here's the somewhat lengthy set of steps to solve that problem:

    1. Phase 1: Attempt to load v3.9
      1. Boot the Maestro/M model.
      2. Select the radio (or click Operate on the M model)
      3. Select v3.9 (top option) and click Update.
      4. If this process succeeds, you're done.  Otherwise...
      5. Click dismiss on any permission errors until you see a blank/black screen.
      6. Press the power button to shut down.
    2. Phase 2: Attempt to load v3.8 (will fail)
      1. Boot the Maestro/M model.
      2. Select the radio (or click Operate on the M model)
      3. Select v3.8 (not the top option) and click Update.  This will likely fail.
      4. Click dismiss on any errors until you see a blank/black screen.
      5. Press the power button to shut down.
    3. Phase 3: Attempt to load v3.8 (will succeed)
      1. Boot the Maestro/M model.
      2. Select the radio (or click Operate on the M model)
      3. Select v3.8 (not the top option) and click Update.  This will likely succeed.
      4. It is important to get to the main operating screen in this process where you can tune a Slice, etc.
      5. Reboot or select Switch Version/Radio from the Menu>Radio Tab.
    4. Phase 4: Attempt to load v3.9 (will succeed)
      1. Boot the Maestro/M model, if necessary.
      2. Select the radio (or click Operate on the M model)
      3. Select v3.9 (the top option) and click Update.  This will likely succeed.

You may be able to replace v3.9 with v4.2 and v3.8 with v4.1, but your mileage may vary. I haven't seen this issue since the v3.9 days. If you run into any problems here, I would recommend you open a helpdesk ticket so we can help you get through it.

Thanks for the reply. I downgraded to version 3.9 and reinstalled 4.2.18. The 8600M required a restart twice, and now it's working fine. I'll see how it goes in the next few days.
