SmartSDR+ and Linux roadmap

My understanding is that Flex no longer provides technical support for Win10 users. Having considered and rejected Windows 11, I've migrated to Linux. I'm therefore interested in radios with Linux clients. I'd like to understand whether FlexRadio is reevaluating accommodating this userbase down the road. My 6700's going to die eventually; when it can't be revived, I'm going to be looking for a 2+SCU, 8+ slice, Linux-friendly radio to replace it with.

Obligatory note: I understand and stipulate that a Linux port is a (much) bigger lift than a feature for, say, clicking the panadapter to tell DSP NR where to find the noise floor.

    Hey John, i'm with you i'm desperate for a Linux software solution for my 8600.
    I did try crossover and i'm still messing, but it's no fix for a proper piece of software.
    Lots of suppliers of application are now dropping support for Windows 10 but what about the Locations that have an extended 12 months support like the UK.
    Oh well one can only wait, hope and pray.

    We would love someone to develop a Linux client. And, we will help with the technical steps. It is not currently on a FlexRadio roadmap. However, iOS was developed by 1 person. Is there no Linux developers that want to make this happen?

    Hi Mike,

    I'm considering converting FlexLib to C++ as a first step towards a Linux solution. While I realize the C# FlexLib is open source, I haven't been able to find a license on the web site to know if there would be any issues with licensing, copyright, or requirements to keep it open source etc. Any help with those answers would be appreciated.

    @serialcoder Cool. I get it's not ready for release, but if you're up for some help, do you have a Codeberg or something we can look at/contribute to, track bugs with, etc? My C# is rubbish but if nothing else I can help tire-kick on windows, linux, contribute docs and tickets, that sort of thing.

    Simon is visiting family in New Zealand right now but is continuing to provide updates to the beta team.

    The current beta version is quite stable so I don't think it will be too much longer before Simon is ready to let this into the wild, but I don't want to speak for him.

    Hi George,

    As Len mentioned, we're in the middle of beta testing right now. It's going very well and all the issues discovered so far are relatively minor UI issues or related to supporting various Linux distributions. Reports from the team indicate that it's very stable and performance is great - even on a RPi4.

    There are quite a few administrative tasks I still have ahead of me that are going to take some time. Things like establishing an LLC, setting up a web site and organizing a payment processor, setting up a CI/CD build process, etc.

    But the good news is, work on it has not stopped, we have a great team of testers, the app is close to completion and performing well.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
