Flex SDR has finally killed my radio

Ever since Flex created the 8000 Series radios I have had nothing but problems. Before that none, worked flawlessly. They should never have added the two radios into one package. Obviously their programming skills are lacking. Attached is the latest issues. No longer even sees my radio. It is on my network. I can view it via my network. Just the software doesn't.

And of course I can not upload a video showing the issue. Now a pile of plastic that is non usable.

    UPDATE.

I reverted back all the way to 3.8.21 and oh boi I forgot how nice the radio ran back then. I dont have skipping audio when using ALE on the other slices. When I change profiles I dont get the hard clicking and clunking of radio relays. NEVER again will I upgrade the flex software. 3.8.21 is where mine will sit forever. Hopefully nothing remains behind from any of the newer versions I had loaded.

Well, i also had lot´s of trouble with above 3.9 . I managed to modify my network ( in a strange way , adding a cheap switch before the better one ) and it works perfect on 4.1.3 currently . In general i agree with you , especially when i think back of the day they presented it at the ham radio fair 2019 to convince us of buying it. They promised a vast amount of features to be added . There is dozen´´s of SDR Radios, each of them updates and adds functionality every few weeks at least… here since we have it… nothing gained, just error corrections , adding new errors.. dissapointed completely.. never again will we buy a flex or even recommend it.

@Glenn Depp If you upgraded the software and the new version does not see the radio, often it is related to your windows Firewall. Try disabling it. This can happen when you change SmartSDR versions since it is the installation of an entirely new Windows program.

Also, on a busy network, such as when using ALE, it is possible your network switch is not up to the task when using some GigaBit switches. Lots of these switches are questionable. To test, this, do a link.local test which is when you only hae a single cable between the radio and the computer. If all works fine, the problem is not the radio, but something in the network path. Real time applications such as what we need for HF radio communications can stress a network.

Let us know what you find out.

IInteresting Delemma, I have been enjoying my 8400m so much without any issues I decided to buy another Flexradio. I have now the 6500,and it was so simple to get the software updated to latest 4.1.5,and it's running like a champ. I was a bit worried, but it went pretty smooth.

    Mike,

I do not use a windows firewall. The software was not just upgraded, I have been running for a few weeks. It also is not new, it began with the first version of sdr software that had the 9000 series included in the package. Also, I do not have cheap network equipment. I have rack mount equipment with 2.5G connections and CAT8 cable.

I cant test the direct connection with the v4 software as I removed every trace of it and back to the 3.8.21 software. Not only is it running better but I also dont have the clicking or breaking of audio from other slices when scanning with ALE, just like I didnt before those "" upgrades.

I really believe your programmers have **** the pooch on the last several releases.

    Mike N0YPD,

Good Luck. I am running a 6600 which I have had for a while. Absolutely no issues until the first version of software that included the 9000 series radios. Then crash after crash, then recently the software didn't even see my radio but my computer could.
