If you have not, reset the radio and make sure you test on SmartSDR v4.1.5.

    Answer this:

    • Band
    • PreAmp setting
    • RF Power out
    • Mic Input being used
    • Level Meter — what is is peaking at
    • Mic bandwidth - high and lower pass filter settings

The preamp setting is critical as it can affect the receiving being used to sample the RF.

    RF power 80W
    Mic. input BAL
    Level Meter 9+
    Mic bandwidth. 50-3000

I don’t know where to find PreAmp setting

Hi Chris, the pre-amp is the RF Gain setting in the ANT pull-out on the left side of the SmartSDR screen.

Mike is asking about the MIC level, not the S-meter. The MIC level peak indicator is the little rectangle in the meter, not the long bar that follows it.

Your MIC level should be set so that the peak indicator tops out somewhere under 0 dB. I try to keep mine around -5 dB. The important thing is to keep it out of the red to prevent distortion and splattering.

    Thanks Len,

pre-amp (RF gain) is set at 0dB

    Mic level peaks at -5dB
