Power and SWR levels do not appear in SmartSDR Win 11 or iOS

8600 cold reboot

PGXL v 3.8.9. (Wondering if caused by recent update)

PGXL front panel metering works fine

Pwr and SWR no longer appear in:

SmartSDR 4.1.5 on Win 11 laptop (PGXL utility indicates correctly) OR

SmartSDR IOS 7.0.94 (means I can't tell if PGXL is working)

I suspect that if you reboot the PGXL and the radio (again) the problem should resolve itself.

I'm not sure if this is an iOS issue, but you might want to check with the author after you try that.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the prompt response. And for your patience with one who is still on the lower slope of the learning curve.

Apologies for not being clear. I observed the same in both SmartSDR 4.1.5 (Win 11) and the iOS app. Assumed it had to be the PGXL firmware update.

I rebooted everything several times, paying attention to disconnecting 12v power for several minutes.

As the problem persisted, I rebooted again but this time disconnecting the PGXL from its AC for the same period.

Now resolved. Does the PGXL also need a couple of minutes like the 8600?

Still trying to embrace the paradigm shift….

usually turning off the PG XL rear switch then turning it back on will have the PG CL re-register with the radio (you see a pop up indicating connection from IP of amp). This creates a new client ID for the amp in the tadio and restores meter data to SmartSdR.

    Hi Arnold,

Just so you know you're not alone, I've had this same problem with my 6700 since the TGXL window in SSDR feature was first released. It's persisted through every version including 4.1.5 and several versions of TGXL and AG f/w. I've had a ticket open for months and months at this point. Tim, Eric and Dave have all taken swings at it to no avail.

Those swings have included every conceivable f/w arrangement, multiple SSDR versions as I said, restarting everything a zillion times in a zillion different orders, substituting everything in my (very simple, all Flex recommended) network chain and absolutely nothing has had any effect whatsoever. Others are reporting the same though it seems to be working for most people. Weird.

Good Luck and please report anything you discover that actually h helps !

doesn't really bother me as the meters on the tgxl and pgxl work fine; thank you VERY MUCH for your response; just get my aurora 520M so will play with that; I did power down everything several times and same thing re the AMP PO and SWR PO meters on the 8600M; only thing i have to figure out is the what does the bypass mode do on the tgxl; stay warm Arnie

    Hi Arnie,

Yeah, same feeling here too. Of all the kinds of issues one might have, not having those meters isn't so big a deal. Kinda annoying that something that should work doesn't. Plus it's a real mystery that they don't. But its very easily worked around.

Maybe a clue will appear at some point. My current guess is it's some uncommon partial failure of network h/w in either the TGXL or radio because I've literally replaced or removed every single other thing there is in the picture to no avail.

Fingers crossed for an 8-slice 8XXX because I'll order one the instant it becomes available and that will at least test the radio part of that theory.

    You stay warm too !!

tnx for input; was told by Tim to try what we discussed; only thing i did not try was to turn everything upside down; amp/tuner/radio all work together right now so will leave everything alone; my tgxl was also serviced at Flex a month ago tnx again
