Ver 4.1.5, has anyone seen these issues?

I have a Flex 6600, and upgraded to SmartSDR+ ver 4.1.5. I am having the following issues and am wondering if other people have seen them before I file a support ticket?

1. DVK: playback of recorded audio has distortion and dropouts.

2. DAX: I don't think it is new to ver 4.1.5, but in digital modes like FT8, while transmitting a stable carrier, the RF power amplitude as seen on the waterfall AND an external power meter, pulses and sputters. Stations have no trouble decoding me, but it is not a stable carrier.
To compare, transmitting a key down CW is nice and solid and stable, which points a finger at DAX.

3. Flex 6600 Balanced MIC input: I am using various Heil and Shure XLR microphones and plugging into the 1/4 inch TRS balanced input. People receiving my audio mention clicks and dropouts. Fully understandable speech, but annoying clicks and dropouts. These same Mics and cables were then tried on my same desk, on my Yaesu radio, and the reception reports were basically "Studio Crystal Clear". So something minor is apparently happening inside the Flex 6600 audio chain with ver 4.1.5?

Has anyone else seen any of these issues, or am I the only victim?
Based on replies, I will then file a ticket or simply wait for the next firmware update
and try that.

Cheers,

Neal AB6G

Those that have seen issues such as these have done a reset on the radio. Make sure you give that a try.

  • Thanks Mike. True. I am aware of that one, and it is the first thing that I tried. The issues persist.

So I am hoping to find out if others have seen this.

    Cheers,

I’ve updated my Flex 6300 to version 4.1.5 and I’m still having the same problem: the ANF doesn’t do anything; it’s ineffective against a carrier. I’ve only tested it on SSB and it doesn’t work. I’m not saying software improvements shouldn’t be paid for, but at the very least a radio feature like the ANF should work properly. Please…

The only one that I have kinda seen is #2 but even prior to 4.1.5 so if this does not help just disregard. Ensure your SSDR xmit bandwidth is sufficient for FT8 ops. 0 - 3000 Hz min. I have a mic profile for 0 - 4000 Hz. If I use one of my narrow mic profiles by mistake (ie 2400 Hz) and try to use FT8 outside of the profile , I see something similar to the stuttering / pulsing that you describe but in the modulated envelope of the DigUSB and mic level meter. Hope this helps.

I do not use the DVK feature and use the PC mic connection when I sometimes venture into SSB or AM so no suggestions but a reset on those but you already did that.
