SMART SDR upgrade

Hello Flexradio

I own a Flex 6400 and using Smart SDR software WINDOWZ. I received email with an offer to upgrade. Will this upgrade be worth implementing for my rig? Can I get a hint for the $$$$???

Hi Fred, the upgrade to 4.0.1 basic is free. You will retain whatever capabilities you have now plus free bug fixes. Once you upgrade, you will have the option to pay $199 for SmartSDR+ which gives you any new features that are compatible with a 6400 that come out in the next 365 days. These features will be delayed by 30 days from their release date. For $299, you can opt into Early Access which gives you the same features as SmartSDR+, but without the 30 day delay.

    Hi Len,

You're so patient explaining this over and over again. Very valuable.

One case I don't think I've seen addressed is, for folks buying a new radio now who don't purchase the SmartSDR+ or early access licenses, of course they get the latest basic v4 but do you happen to know what feature level they get. The radio has no history so the "upgrade" flavor of the answer doesn't apply. I'm guessing the last v3 feature set ?

Doesn't apply to me, just curious. Thanks as always,

Yeah, as usual, sloppy answer. Please actually read questions before answering them.

They clearly come with basic v4 - you would have seen that I said that in the question if you'd read it. What FEATURES are included at that level ? Are you saying that NO features are included ? What would that even mean ?

I have a question… I have a maestro, two computers, and I use all of them to access an 8600 remotely. How many upgrades do I need to buy?

ONE, the license goes with the radio, the others are clients.

Hi Cy, only the radio is licensed. You can upgrade it to 4.1.5 basic at no cost. Each client (SmartSDR, Maestro) needs to be on the same version (4.1.5). The features you had prior to the upgrade are the same that you will have after the upgrade.

Once you have upgraded the radio, both computers and the Maestro, you have the option to purchase SmartSDR+. This will give you some new features, mostly around noise mitigation.

To get to the purchase button in SmartSDR, go to Settings, Radio Setup, Radio tab. At the bottom of the panel are two buttons. One to get SmartSDR+ and one to get SmartSDR+ Early Access. Only choose one. Early Access is an additional $100 and gives you new features immediately upon release. Plain SmartSDR+ gives you the same functionality 30 (ish) days after release.
