Slow Boot 6500

Hi All

My 6500 has started to take some time to boot, usually once the relays click it took maybe 10-15 seconds, now its well over 1 minute,

Is there anything I can try to see if it improves it,

For what it's worth I'm on 3.7.4 and I am not planning to move onto V4 free or paid,

Thanks

Hi Trevor…how old is your 6500 (i.e. when was the last time it was serviced?) Has it ever had the internal SD card replaced?

The reason I'm asking is that 'slow' boot up can possibly be a sign of a failing SD card.

Would you be willing to upgrade to 3.10.15 and give that a try?

    Hi Don

Thanks for the reply, Yes the SD card was replaced a few years ago when Flex pushed out the upgrade to make the older ones fail,

I should have made a copy before I installed it,

is 3.10.15 the last version before V4

I don't want to lose NR and NB adjustability that seems to be a issue in V4,

Sounds good. I believe the NB and NR adjusters are still in 3.10.15, so maybe give that upgrade a try and see if the 'slow boot' resolves itself?

Also, you might try exporting your profiles, do a factory reset (hold for white flash) then boot up the radio (don't import your profiles yet). Does, this get you back to 'normal' boot time?

Then, import your old profiles and try again. Does the boot time change? If so, it might be some corruption in your profiles. (It's known to happen). In that case, re-do the factory reset then recreate all your profiles from scratch and re-export them.

    Just some ideas to try.
