Anyone have a Yaesu G-800DXA able to connect to a FLEX-8000 radio able to get Passthrough to work?

I am using the ERC Mini DX to interface between a FLEX-8600M and the rotor controller, Yaesu G-800DXA. The manufacture of the ERC-Mini said the USB interface has the latest chip version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard. The issue I am having is that in trying to setup Passthrough the 8600M does not recognize the cable. Has anyone been successful with Passthrough using this Yaesu rotor controller or similar one, if so, what hardware interface are you using between the Yaesu G-800DXA, or similar one, and an 8000 series radio?

No, it will not recognize the cable. You'll need an ERC unit with native RS232.

from Tim Ellison, W4TME"The radio will only recognize and use genuine FTDI USB-to-Serial adapters that offer a full complement of handshake signals (RTS/CTS, Xon/Xoff or none).  The FT232R and FT231X provide a full complement of modem handshake signals.  The FT230X does not have the full complement of handshake signals, so it is not recognized by SmartSDR."

ran circles around this same question awhile back that was the answer since erc uses FT230X… so no go. for the g5500 i settled on using a csn satellite controller (flex+transverter support in beta) which also runs a hamlib rotator server that can be used inside pstrotator. and for the g800 I settled on a hygain yrc1 (last i looked mfj had 1 left in stock..maybe i should grab it as a spare) which works wonderfully with the flex serial passthrough
a yaesu GS-232B would also work with flex passthrough if you could stomach the price. there are chinese knock offs cant vouch for them

Since the Yaesu G-800DXA is one of the most popular rotor controllers and the ERC Mini DX is a very cost-effective solution, would FLEX please make Passthrough work with the FT230X USB UART chip.

According to the manufacturer of the ERC-interfaces, they are designed to be used with USB-hosts on a Windows, Linux or a MacOS-machine, and this is why they use FT230X and it works as advertised on all these OS. The owner of the company informed me that the FT232RL has been obsolete for several years and that's why they replaced this chip in all their designs with the FT230X.
