New install of 4.1.5

Problem found. I just installed, Yes I did the required tasks before starting anything, actually gave it extra time to each step as I have had horrible issues with other versions ever since the 8000 series came into existence, prior versions no issues.

I am running this new fresh install for the first time this morning. When I changed profiles I had the controls from the right go down to bottom, I was able to move back but never have I placed there or anywhere else. Seems like it tried to make it another pan adapter.

You might want to do a full reset of the radio. Check the release notes for the details. This should clear things up.

I did a full reset already.

Hi Glenn… something others have us found is that 'old' v3 profiles cause a problem in V4.

Something else to try, if you're up for it.

    a) Do a complete factory reset of the radio — back to 'out of the box' defaults.

    b) Run SmartSDR and see if there is a problem. If so, it's definitely time for a Help Desk Ticket (if you haven't already)

    c) DO NOT import your old profiles.

    d) Start rebuilding your profiles from scratch under the v4 software. If any of them cause a problem, stop there and open a Help Desk Ticket. (I know, this is a pain, especially if like me, you have LOTS of different profiles).

    e) If you get them all in and no problems, do an export of your NEW profiles. Then power cycle (not Factory Reset) your radio and you should be good to go.

The dirty little secret is that if you are upgrading a 4.x.x release. You must do a full comprehensive factory reset (pressing the button until turns white). Follow all instructions for upgrading especially the requirements to remove power from radio during this sequence. Follow all the steps exactly in proper order for proper length of time. And here is the secret: You MUST create your profiles from scratch! In order to assure you don't get any random wonky behavior you must re-build your profiles from a clean start. Do NOT import previously built profiles. Period. If you do, you may get lucky, but then again you may not. Dan WA1QZX

I did not redo my profiles, and all is well with both my 6400 and 8600.

What I did not do was import profiles saved under V3 to V4. Instead, I did the upgrade, then immediately saved my profiles. Now, if I do a profile import, it will be with V4 profiles.

You just got lucky. And that is a good thing.

OK. For those just reading and adding comments.

When I installed the software I followed the directions fully, allowing extra time i.e. instead of 2 minutes, 4 to 5 minutes. I did a FULL reset, as I always do. White button and all. So a clean new setup with nothing retained. I did not import ANYTHING. I created every profile, as I always do, from scratch. After that was all done I did everything all over except for the "white button' factory reset. Shut down, waited 4 to 5 minutes, removed power cord, waited about 4 minutes, attached power cord and switched on the power supply, waited about 5 minutes, ran SDR software. Let it sit there and burn in for a while, I think 30 minutes as I went up stairs to eat. Came back down, changed profiles and boom had the side window on the bottom, I can move it back to the side, however, every time I switch to a profile with the four (4) pan adapters it moves it to the bottom, every time.

As I finished typing I tried again and did not do that for 3 times, then started doing it again. So apparently not EVERY TIME but pretty much every time after those 3 times it started back up again.

Thanks Glenn… so, are you still seeing the 'wonky' behaviour? If so, I would suggest opening up a Help Desk Support Ticket.

I sent in a support ticket request.
