RNN noise reduction
Has anyone had any success with the new RNN noise mode on the new SmartSDR+
I'm finding NRF and NRS good, NRL seems to add a waterfall effect, but RNN I can't figure out. I have strong signals and when I turn it on, it is like a squelch, with the signal trying to break through. There is no noise, but the audio barely getting through. Sometimes it seems better but generally isn't too good. Is it Ai that will learn, or does it need more updates to improve it. Any thoughts?

Same for me here on the RNN.I don't really care for it,for now/

I love it. Can you post screen shots of your bandwidth and I found that having the AGC-T set correctly helps.

Where do you have your AGC-T set at to get this result?0

Ken, there is no correct spot I can share with you. It is different for everyone. It depends on their antennas and noise floor. It is the most powerful receiver tool on the radio and it is critical that you know how to adjust it for your station.

Well this RNN has given me mixed results. I've played with this and still cant figure it out. If I use a wider filter 3.3khz its better. I'm finding you have to be tuned right on the station but I can have one strong signal on a net come through perfectly and the next person on the net has a 10 over 9 signal and cant hear him. It wont let his audio through. I've played with agc-t and still nothing comes through. When I can get it to work, it works well. Michael Walker, can you do a video or screen shots of your settings. Is this self learning? Will it get better the more I use it? NRL, HRF and NRS are pretty good though

I played around more with the RNN,and it's still not working right or maybe working to good. It's like having the squelch set way to high, and missing parts of some audio. Hopefully there can be an update to loosen up the setting. I think it could be a very nice feature.. Best i can explain what's going on.l

Yes, RNN has to be tuned to the voice since it is designed and taught for the human voice. It also has a finite SNR range.
I just tried it this morning on 80M. My preamp is -8dB, my noise floor is about S4 and signals are peaking 10-20 over S9. AGC-T is set to 25, but that is for my antenna/noise.
It works 99% of the time. Some voices, that aren't that strong seem to suffer and QSB seems to have a small effect I think. This is on the AU-520 which is the same as a FLEX-8600.
