SmartSDR v4 Preview

I had the chance to sit down with Hayley, K5HMV, yesterday for an exclusive walkthrough—and since you’re on this list, you’re getting an early preview!
In the video, Hayley takes you through SmartSDR Basic, SmartSDR+, and SmartSDR+ Early Access.

We’ll be releasing SmartSDR v4 very soon. When it goes live, the 365 Feature License for both SmartSDR+ and SmartSDR+ Early Access will be $50 off through the end of November.

You only need one of the two licenses—whichever best fits your needs.

Just a quick reminder: SmartSDR Basic is free for all FLEX-6000 and FLEX-8000 users.
Once v4 is released, you’ll install it just like before. When you’re ready to upgrade, you’ll find the purchase option directly within the SmartSDR software.

SmartSDR Basic - FREE

SmartSDR+ - 365 day license - $199 — On sale until the end of November for $149

SmartSDR+ Early Access - 365 day license - $299 — On sale until the end of November for $249

Stay tuned—more details coming soon!

This is great Mike! I told Steve at Hamvention that I would buy an 8600 the minute Flex added the phasing/amplitude control. I will be contacting Flex sales tomorrow…

Extremely impressed with Hayley. Very bright and real. Would love to hear her talk solo about the new stuff in more depth in a future video.

I second Russ's observation. Big brain Haley is a huge plus for the FRS team and appears to enjoy her work very much. Very impressed with the investment that FRS has made in their commercial / amateur software team and the features explained very well by Haley in Mike's video appear to be huge additions.

One shot autotune RTTY would be great as well with the ability to proceed to the next higher or lower RTTY / CW signal in frequency on the pan adapter with an additional click of the one shot button. Doing this manually with a mouse is fine and still a huge plus imho however instead of manually aiming for each new signal via the mouse. It would be great to just be able to park the mouse on the one shot button and let technology do the work.

Thanks Mike for the informative video

I'm very excited about these new features. Better noise reduction is always welcome. Would have loved to see a demo of the impact of the new filtering on actual audio, but the conversation itself was very informative. Also very excited at the prospect of improved DAX.

At the same time, I can't help feeling a little annoyed that multiple PowerSDR features are considered "new" and thus require a new license. It just seems a bit underhanded to remove a feature from the product, wait a decade, then charge extra to finally give it back.

Do I need a Smartlink account in order to upgrade my radio?

I do appreciate the way Flex has explained and clarified SmartSDR+ since the initial announcement. I believe that there was a lot of misunderstanding and assumptions that could have been avoided early on. Nonetheless, I am purchasing the discounted first run of it and am looking forward to the future development.
