Using SmartSDR for Mac with the RHR desktop application?

I'm about to go on an extended cruise which will allow me time to get familiar with our club's new Flex. Club's Flex is permanently tied to the Remote Ham Radio Youth network.
I'll be traveling with my MacBook.
I swear I read somewhere that if I have the RHR desktop app, which I do, I can use Marcus' app as my main interface and use the RHR one as a virtual "Flex" to connect to.
And now, two weeks out from the cruise, I've wasted two hours on The Googles to come up empty.
Before I drop the $99, does anyone know for a fact that this will work? Have you done it? Is there something online that I'm missing that will tell me this? I can't find a contact for Marcus to ask him myself. I want to use all of the nice features, but if it won't connect through RHR, then I will have wasted a hundred bucks.
Thanks.

You can get support from Marcus by going to the Help menu in the Mac SmartSDR app, and select “contact support.”
I find him to be very responsive.
Good luck and bon voyage!

The problem is that I'm not willing to drop the $99 until I find out if it will work. Our Flexes are tied to RHR's youth network as a requirement of the grant that we received to set them up. And I can't find any support contact for Marcus outside of the app.
I'll reach out to RHR first.0
