Flex 8600 v3.10.10 Strange bug while not internet
Hi all,
yesterday we had a big outage from our fiber optic provider and we did not have internet for the whole day. The radio was crashing every 10/15 minutes.
It looks like SmartSDR 3.10.10 is somehow trying to contact a server and if does not connect to it just crash. After internet was back no more issues and radio worked as usual.
Is there like SmartSDR trying to check for license and if cannot reach the remote server just crashes ?
Anyone else is having the issue ?
Thanks

That is interesting. It sounds like your outage caused some sort of network communications issue. Could it be a router on your network that was rebooting?
As a simple test, what happens if you test this again by removing the radio from having internet access?
It is NOT a requirement at all that the radio needs to call home. In fact, we run radios with no internet connection all the time at hamfests.
If you can get some more details on this, it would help to isolate the issue so we can understand the root cause.

I had a internet outage here on Monday / Tuesday that had our Internet down for 18 hours here at my location and my radio running 3.10.10 SmartSDR to my PC never faltered so I would bet it is your router shutting down the LAN when the WAN goes away. My setup here is my Operating desk is about 60 away from the Radio Equipment Rack and I go between two Netgear Switch's by my Fiber connection I installed between them and the Radio Rack Switch connects to the Router is connected to the Internet.
I had the Radio and Computer on all this time so I am not sure if I would have shut off either one they would have been able to talk to MY router's DHCP for a new IP Address.
If your using the Router also as a switch you may want to buy a separate switch to link between the Radio and Computer / Maestro.

Interesting, ok I will try to reproduce this behavior and will revert.
I also have in line the PGXL, TGXL and AG for info.

As do I and all are connected to the same Netgear Switch out in the Equipment rack.
Is your Router owned by your Internet provider or is it your own? My router is owned by me.

Hi, sorry did not revert, no my setup is the internet provider modem to my pfsense in bridge mode, then fiber optic to different switch, at radio station the Mirkotik switch is connected by fiber optic to my pfsense box and then 1gb rj45 to PGXL, TGXL, AG 8x2, Flex 8600 and so on…
I will take the time this week end to disconnect from the Mikrotik switch the internet connection and see if I still have the issue.
