on my 8600M, APD & CAL are indicated in blue does this mean APD is on or working?

from the TX panel, APD always shows "Calibrating"

When APD is working, it will say ACTIVE.

There is a bug where the GUI can still be in CAL but it is ACTIVE. You can tell this by looking at the transmitted pedestal. It will be flat looking rather than a triangle. Remember it only works in AM and SSB for the most part.

If you can't get it to calibrate, try turning down the RF GAIN (not AGC-T). It depends what band you are one for SmartSignal to get an equalizer solution.

    good luck!

I've played with the RF gain (reducing it to 0 or various settings with no success)

Meanwhile my APD shows Active when on SSB but doesn't seem to flatten the transmit pedestal.

I'm using a PGXL amp, so I'll have to wait till that equipment is implemented into APD

I haven't listened to the 8600M barefoot with another rig to observe the waveform

If the pedestal is flat in the bottom 1/4, then APD is working. If it looks like a pyramid, it was not able to get a solution.

You can still use APD with a PGXL but you won't be sampling from the PGXL just yet.

You can always watch your transmitted signal with another Panadapter/Slice in FDX mode. No need for a 2nd radio. Just select an unused antenna port.

I've also found that when APD is showing Active, changing the transmit power any amount changes the Active to Cal. Then on the next transmission, it goes Active and retains that annunciation.
