Gaming Headsets - What works for you?

Good morning all

I love trying out headsets, so on a wim, I ordered a Razar Blackshark X Gaming headset. It has a volume control on it and it has a Mic mute, which I accidentally touch causing me to wonder why I had no SSB RF output at one point. :)

It comes with a TRRS CTIA connector which makes it plug and play on a Maestro C.

I set it up like this:

  • HDST connector input from the Maestro
  • PTT on the Maestro with a footswitch
  • BIAS ON
  • 20dB gain off
  • About a 6dB notch at 1Khz to reduce any low band harmonics
  • Make sure the Level on peaks barely hits 0dB on the Level meter

Initial audio reports were really good. Nice balance and a bright presentation. For the price, it was a good choice. And, it comes in different colours.

For those on a budget and if you are using a Maestro on maybe a PC or a MAC with a TRRS input, it works.

What other headsets are people happy with?

    Hi Mike, I have been really happy with the Yamaha CM-500 headset. I did have to wire a simple adapter for it to work with my 6400. For my voice and rig, I roll off the lows and very highs, but otherwise leave the TX EQ flat at 0 dB. As a bonus, it is very inexpensive.

    When I use a headset (not often, but when others need to sleep :-)), I currently use a SteelSeries Arctis. I have two of them, one fairly old and the other a couple of years ago. Both have built in mics and volume controls. With an adapter, I have them plugged into the front mic/headphone jacks on my 6700. They work really well and I get good audio reports when I use them.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
