8400, GPS, N1MM+, and ROVERQTH?

Hi Gang,
I've searched and cannot find the answer to the following. If I use a new 8000 series radio in my VHF+ rover, can I get the GPS coordinates that the radio clearly knows to be understood by N1MM such that the grid square from which I'm operating gets filled in automatically? Then I wouldn't have to remember to type ROVERQTH at each stop!
Seems like this should be simple…

Hi Mark
You 'can' but you'll need to write some middleware software to connect to port 4992 of the radio and do a "sub gps all". You will then get the GPS data.
It is always 'simple', but the devil is in the details. That is about as simple as it gets.
If I was going to do it, I would have a RPI running NodeRed and then you can set up the data any way you wish.
Good luck.
