I want to ask about adding a Power Genius XL to my 8400M.

My antenna Hustler BTV6 is resonant on most covered bands and takes almost no tuning from the radio's internal tuner. Because of that, would adding a Power Genius XL benefit from the great SWR I already have and not require the Tuner Genius XL? Thoughts?

If the antenna is resonant (under 1.5 to 1), you will not need the tuner. The amp will derate between 1.5:1 and 3:1. Over 3:1, the amp will alarm and go into bypass.

So if your vert is under 1.5, the tuner won't help. Anything much over that and the tuner will be an asset.

I ran for years without a tuner on a PGXL and I never got worried until 2:1. And, if you do go over, the PGXL will take care of itself and start to fold back power.

You certainly can. You don't need the tuner for bands where your antenna is resonant (or close enough). Bands that are not close enough will have to wait for the tuner.

So, here’s the question: if I already have an 8600, can I purchase the PGXL without the antenna genius and tunner? I also have a DXCommander Resonant antenna. I’m waiting for the perfect moment to buy the three components together, but if I can get the PGXL and the rest by steps, that would be great news for me.
