Maestro as remote with starlink
I watched a video last night with two Flexradio Staff and it was stated if you have your radio on a standard network and you remote in using a Maestro on Starlink it will work fine. Is this still a true statement. This was on " hamradio 2.0 " and they talked about smartlink problems and inprovments.
thanks

I want to very clear of the question and the answer.
If you are using a Flex-Radio that is on the internet and not hosted by StarLink, you can connect to it from a Maestro that is on StarLink without issue. You do not require anything special.
Now, if the radio is being hosted by StarLink, that is an entirely different issue and is NOT plug and play.

That is great news because my radios are hosted by xfinity cable and not starlink. I will need to get my hands on a maestro and try it out. This may be something others need to know that would like to connect to their home station from their RV cabin etc. I would like to hear from others that have done this.
one last question should this work the same way with the SmartSDR ios.
again thanks

If SmartSDR works from StarLink, so will the Maestro and all other clients as well. This is because they are initiating an outbound connection.

I too am a Starlink Sat subscriber and I have recently attempted to utilize the Flex Smartlink with my (new to me) Maestro. I’m unable to get the green dot test light-so I have no remote access in to my Flex 8400 radio.
I did find through discussions with Tech Support that I don’t appear to have many options.
- Upgrade to Business Plan with Starlink - with crazy high prices and data limits (starting at over $200 a month).
2. Use a VPN (Sounds like I’m going to have to hire an IP tech person- sheez)
Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?
How do I go about using a VPN? And does BestBuy sell them?
