Slice Limit Again

edited April 2025 in SmartSDR for Windows

I am getting the "Slice limit has been reached" message on my Maestro from a remote location.

I closed SSDR on the remote PC and restarted the remote PC as well.

There are no other instances of SSDR.

Any suggestions?

It's happening on my just received, 8600M as well.

I can tell you that after a bunch of fiddling, and I didn't document anything, all is well. I do recall that I had to disable multiFlex on both ends. That was on a 6400.

Thanks. I submitted a Help Desk ticket and was told it was a known issue and is fixed in v3.9 that is coming out soon.

Does 3.9 include adaptive Pre Distortion by any chance?

I believe that it may be implemented in that version. I do know that it will appear before v4.x shows up.

Agree. They've definitely been clearly saying it will be in v3.9 and someone from Flex recently said that will be out "shortly". Personally I'm hoping for some bug fixes. Fingers crossed …

I have seen many accounts of FlexRadio personal clearly stating the adaptive predistortion, SmartSignal, will be available in the next release which was said to v3.9, with the general targeted release date to be before Dayton. Recent releases have been Monday or Tuesdays so I'll be refreshing the refreshing the community site often come May 5 & 6th, lol.

    Hello everyone,

I’d like to join this thread because I’m experiencing what seems to be the exact same issue and would like to build on the discussion here.

On my Maestro, there is constantly a connection shown:

“SmartSDR-Win: PC_*****_NEU”, even though the PC is definitely powered off.

Additionally, I repeatedly get the message:

“Slice limit has been reached. Close a Slice and try again.”

This happens even though no active slice is visible on the Maestro.

What I have already tried (based on the suggestions in this thread):

Fully closed SmartSDR on the PC (including DAX/CAT, verified via Task Manager)

    Completely shut down the PC

    Restarted the FLEX-6400 multiple times

Fully powered off the radio (disconnected power, waited, then restarted)

    Restarted the Maestro

    Checked multiFLEX (set to “Disabled”)

    Disconnected the PC session

On the PC itself, slice creation works normally

    Current issue:

    The “PC_*****_NEU” connection remains visible

The slice limit error keeps appearing on the Maestro

It seems like the radio still detects an active session/slice internally, even though there isn’t one

    My questions:

Was the original issue in this thread ever resolved?

If yes, what was the root cause and solution?

Is there a way to reset or clear “stuck” sessions/slices directly on the radio?

Could this be related to network/discovery or SmartLink behavior?

I’d really appreciate any guidance so I can continue from where this discussion left off.

    Thank you very much!
