Tuner Genius Sometimes Forgetting Memorized Tune

Member ✭✭

I am finding that occasionally, my TG (S02R) forgets memorized tunes.  I have all my FT8 frequencies memorized, and sometimes when switching bands, the TG does appears to have forgotten a previous tune as evidenced by high SWR.  To resolve, I either need to hit the TUNE button, or I can switch bands back and forth and then the TG recalls the tune.  When this situation occurs, the correct frequency is showing in TG.  I have gone through multiple resets and only have a handful of frequencies memorized (2 per band per antenna), so I don't think this is due to available memories being exceeded.

I am running the 6400, PGXL, TGXL and AG 8x1 . .

I submitted a ticket to Flex and they referred me to 403a . . . on 4/3 I submitted a ticket to 403a, and they have yet to reply to it or two subsequent follow up requests . . .

Remember, the TG XL only has 20 memories per band. If you continue to tune every time you QSY it will overwrite memories.

I would suggest training the tuner. To clear the tune memories for a band hold the TUNE button (after the tuner has booted up).

Once the memories are clear, train the tuner. Here is an example of training the tuner.

80 meters - The band is 500 kHz wide so 500 divided by 20 memories = 25 kHz step size.

I start at 3.515 and tune. Move up 25 kHz and tune. Keep going up 25 kHz and tune. When you finish with 20th memory you will be on 3.990 MHz. Now, as you tune around on that band you will never be more than 12.5 kHz away from a tuning solution and no need to retune.

On the WARC bands, you only need 2 memories.

    A couple of updates:

    1) Have yet to get a response from 403a.

    2) When I escalated to Flex, they essentially said they have gotten complaints about 403a unresponsiveness in the past and there is nothing they can do (of course, no problem cashing my check for the dream station - - - disappointing)

    3) The resets I have done twice previously were "factory resets" (Holding the Bypass/Operate button) and despite this implying everything would be wiped out, I am thinking it isn't resetting the tuner memories. I just became aware of a tune solution specific reset (holding the TUNE button for each antenna per band). I've just gone through that process and will see how that works out.

UPDATE: #3 did not resolve my issue
