Trade in for 8600M

Flex just invoiced me for the entire cost of an 8600M, although I had indicated I had a 6600M to trade. Will they ask for my trade at a later date and then issue me a partial refund?

I will be happy when they respond back in 5 business days with a trade-in value for my 6600M. (Towards a 8600M) Having received it Thursday of last week, I calculate that yesterday was 5 business days. Of course, they didn't say which 5 business days and of what year! 😀

The last part of my previous post was in jest. As far as business days and what year. I have found out that the person who will be checking out my 6600M had to be away because of family issues. So, that is the reason I haven't heard anything yet. I am not in such a hurry to get the new 8600M that I would get bent out of shape in a situation like this. Besides that, I still have my 5000A to play Flex Radio with. ( unless it sells at Belton this weekend!)

Don't get too excited about your trade-in value… they only offered $2299 for my 6600M which was in excellent condition and very low usage. Without asking any questions they stated it was 7 years old which is what they used to value it. I would recommend you go to QTH. In my case, 6600M are selling between $2900-$3600.

Also check your invoice to ensure they credited your deposit. In my case they "forgot" to credit my deposit until I raised the issue.

My 6600M is the same age as yours. I am certain that they won't offer any more than what you were quoted. I am okay with that as selling it myself isn't something I want to deal with. The sales tax difference between paying full price and having a trade-in of $2,299.00 deducted from the total amount and paying tax on the difference is nearly $200.00 in savings. That has value to me as I don't have to deal with someone who may not understand what they are buying. I cannot offer a warranty of any kind so if it arrives not working,( even though it was working fine when shipped ) I would have to take the radio back and make a refund. Besides that, Flex Radio will go over the radio and make sure it is in good condition before selling it. And the new buyer gets a warranty as well. I have seen a lot of Flex radios for sale on the different websites. Not all of them sell. Even at the prices you quoted. What someone asks for a radio and what they get is usually different. Until Flex Radio formally announced the new radios prices for used,in good condition, Flex radios was good. And they usually sold rather quickly. Now,prices have dropped and radios are not selling that much. That may all change depending on how the new tariffs effect prices for new Flex radios.

I got the same $2,299 offer for my 6600M and mine has the GSPDO.

Ouch! I would have thought the GPSDO would add value to the radio. If I had one in my 6600M, and knew that it wouldn't make a difference in value, I believe I would remove it and sell it separately. I have not heard back from Flex Radio about my 6600M other than a note saying that the person who will be doing the evaluation has a family problem and will not be available right now. I can understand that quite well. So, I am not in a hurry and can wait till the guy is back to work. Like everyone I do get excited about new radios . But, in a situation like this one, I can curb my enthusiasm.
