VOX progressive delay in 6700 remote operation

During ARRL DX SSB I like to use VOX instead of a foot pedal. Lately I've noticed that after running for awhile the VOX delay between speaking and transmission increases to the point of becoming unusable, say about 1 second. It doesn't seem to matter what my settings are.

If I use MOX or {TX}/{RX} CAT commands for awhile or restart the radio, it goes back to normal. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Flex 6700 + PGXL +TGXL + AG remote 100 MB down, 30 MB up on both ends

VOX gain 50

VOX Delay 10

MIC gain 85

ALC peaking around -10 dB

    Hi Paul, I wonder if RF might be getting in. Can you try VOX at very low power into a dummy load to see if the problem happens then? If it still happens, then I would submit a help desk ticket. If that clears it up, then ferrites on the various cables in your shack should help. In my case, I was getting RF into my network via ethernet cables and into my computer via USB cables. I eventually wound up with ferrites on everything. Totally cleared up my issues.

    Thanks for the suggestion Len. I'm at the site now and haven't been able to reproduce the problem. It's only happened to me while running in phone contests. Very strange. Can't submit a ticket until I can figure out how to reproduce it. Darn, might have to wait until NAQP SSB when Nebraska's a multiplier. Thanks for the tip. I'd be grateful for any other tips you or anyone else has.

    Hi Paul, I just thought of something…. What version of SmartSDR are you running? A few versions back had a VOX issue that has been fixed. 3.8.23 and 2.12.1 are the two current releases.

    I'm up to date with 3.8.23. It's been a problem for quite awhile I think. I just notice it more as I become more competitive at contesting. But Thanks

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
