CAT control FTDX101D

edited March 2024 in Power Genius XL Amplifier

I'm using a straight through cable and no good. I'm wondering if the RS232 on the back of the PGXL is an RS232C and what I need is a null modem cable since the FTDX101D has an RS232C connector not a RS232 connection. I'm using Yaseu 3

Does anyone know if the rear of the PGXL is a RS232 or a RS232C?

Thanks

Peter

OK, I have it working, but the amp and FTDX101D will ONLY communicate at 9600 baud not 19200. Is this a bug in the radio, PGXL or both? I had one of these radio's in the past and I seem to remember something about this but not sure what.

Not sure Peter. it is likely a bug.

9600 is plenty fast enough. If I use CAT, I've often used 9600 or 4800bps. After all, we are only moving a few characters.

This just worked for my FTDX-5000 too. I had always used 38400, but it wouldn't communicate with the PGXL on CAT. 9600bps worked. 73

The difference in time to transmit the CAT data between the two speeds is a few milliseconds.

Indeed. No big deal. Just documenting it in case others run into an issue.
