Purchased the entire unit from Max for use with the Flex, small, simple and very effective fix to my remote cw keying of the 6600. Works as good or better than the RemoteRig lashup I had for years and takes up little to NO space.
WOW.. What a nice unit you made Max!! I bought the SD card holder this AM and changed the micro chip programming to the local IP of the radio and Iambic keying and VIOLA! Love the built in keyer and speed control and came in very handy during the weekends cw contest.
I had a little trouble updating to the latest firmware but come to find out it wasn't the uni it was a corrupted HEX file. Max sent me a known good copy via email and I was updated in minutes from there. Thanks Max, you have been very responsive to my questions.

A new release of the *MORCONI-FLEX* system is now available for download:
Updated documentation and release notes are also available.
MORCONI-FLEX 1.5 RELEASE NOTES
This firmware update includes the following improvements:
- Send a "C" instead of a "K" when radio and SmartSDR are connected.
- Send a "D" if the radio or SmartSDR disconnects.
- Changes in the ReadRadio routine to be more responsive and to avoid the radio deadlock and some hesitation while using CWX. (K9SO/G4IRN)
- The speed control is now read only before sending an element, should improve the keying responsiveness.
- Added Ultimatic emulation. (LB6B)I really need some feedback on the different emulations.
Implementing the different timing logic is not simple and prone to errors.73, Max

A Good Ham Radio Operator, Just Before Christmas
The OM:
Santa, my MORCONI system is finally up and running!
I can send CW with my favorite key, whether it’s my trusty bug, my electronic keyer, or even using MORCONI’s built-in keyer. I’ve even got options for different timing logics like CMOS SuperKeyer and Ultimatic.
But… I’m still missing something.
Santa:
Ho, ho, ho! Tell me, what’s missing? Maybe I’ve got just the thing in my sack.
The OM:
I need a way to connect my MORCONI directly to my logging or contesting program to send CW—without using a Winkeyer.
Santa:
Ho, ho, ho! Well, you’re in luck this year!
MORCONI 1.6 has exactly what you’re asking for. With this new update, you can transmit CW directly from your logging program over the RTS or DTR serial line—no Winkeyer required.
The OM:
That’s perfect! Thank you, Santa!
Narrator:
And so, with MORCONI 1.6 under the tree, everyone was happy. The OM could enjoy flawless CW, Santa could take a well-earned rest, and Christmas cheer filled the airwaves.

MORCONI IS COMPLETE!
This really works well. Version 1.6 interfaces with all the major programs like N1MM and N3FJP using RTS and / or DTR modes. I built mine into a Winkeyer because I didn't want to lose those Winkeyer interfaces. I was premature. I don't need the Winkeyer any more. MORCONI is a complete CW solution now.
Such a Happy Christmas present from Santa Max

Hi Max.. dont know what I did on the attempt to update to V1.6 but now maybe between versions. The keyer is working, but I can't key the 6400 anymore? v1.5 was working perfectly but I cant even seem to get back to that. I try to copy old files back onto the SD card but I keep getting "not all properties can be copied over" is this normal. I forget.
I still get the "K" at startup and cw sidetone but no ptt happening. Anyone got a hint as to what **** thing I did wrong. Yes I self induce these messes!
As a reference: Just what files should be showing up on the SD card? I see teensy, Morconi CFG. Morconi-Flex.ino.hex. All dated 11/24 at this point (V1.5).
[HAH…. Never Mind. I just had to restart the Radio! DUH.]

Hi Larry,
The SD card should just have MORCONI.CFG, which is the configuration file.
To update the firmware, you just want to connect MORCONI to your computer and run teensy.exe.
File/open load the new firmware. If needed, push the white button on the Teensy board (your unit has a small hole, do not need to open the box).
I'm sending the firmware to your mail, call me if you need more help.

Also, if you are getting the "K" or the "C" (it depends on the firmware version) it means MORCONI connects to the radio successfully. Make sure the radio is in CW and break in is enabled.

Also Larry, if you're using v.1.6, you should be hearing a "C" when connecting and a "D" when disconnecting. Sent at 40 wpm so be ready for it :-)

Larry, did you put your Radio IP address and other settings in the Morconi.cfg file that you have on the SD Card. If you haven't edited it this is why your not connecting to your Radio.

Looks like everything is working for Larry, he just needed to reboot the radio!

Bought the compete Morconi from Max. Max is easy to work with and delivered the completed product quickly!
After making a couple of local changes in the Config file the unit was up and running with my Windows SmartSDR station on 6600.
The Morconi is paired with a paddle, powered speaker and Wifi dongle. See attached images.
Thank you Max!

Hi Birton,
Your WiFi dongle solution is interesting, let us know if you see disconnection or any network-related issue.
Enjoy CW,

MORCONI: not just another keyer.
I thought I'd add some scale to the pictures because it can be made very small too. This version is less than 1/2 the size of a Winkeyer. It now interfaces to 3rd party software now too. A great home or travel keyer that directly connects to the Flex via LAN or WAN without any further interface.
All the parts fit inside a Winkeyer, too as in this earlier version that keeps all the original Winkeyer functionality:

Did I read in this thread that the Morconi was being developed to be used with other radios? As an Anan user I would be very interested in the project, if it were to be supported
Charlie GI4FUE0 -
Hi Charlie,
The MORCONI system comes in two versions. One is specific for the Flex radios and just needs the MORCONI client box, the radio is the server.
The All-Rigs version is generic, works with any model/brand, and requires both a MORCONI client and a MORCONI server boxes.
Not sure if the ANAN radio exposes any API for CW. If this is the case and there is available documentation I can think about developing a MORCONI for ANAN version.

With the addition of the PTT function, MORCONI isn't just a great remote CW keyer any more. It will seamlessly interface remotely to a local PTT button or footswitch for SSB now.
I also use one at two of my remote locations as a "log-in detector" because it outputs a "connect" signal whenever someone opens SmartSDR associated with the radio. I use that signal for various station management functions.
Don't forget to check out the new website at MORCONI.COM … just $85 for a completed and tested unit or build your own for $40? It's a steal.
I have no affiliation … just a fan.

Very funny Max, I've only just begun (LOL). WiFi is next, then incorporating this into the mini-Maestro. I could go on … .
How tough can this be? 😂😍😎
Seriously though, thanks for all your good work. I know it's been a huge effort, but worth it in the end.

Firmware 1.8 - Spring Edition for Flex is now available for download at
Release note:
- QNEthernet timing issues have been fixed.
- Configurable banner/command speed:
Add 'Prompt Speed: XX' to the MORCONI.CFG file, where XX is the CW speed in WPM. - Dynamic configuration selection at boot: up to ten (10) different configurations can be selected dynamically:
1) Create configuration files named MORCONIX.CFG, where X is a number between 1 and 9.
2) Whitin 4 seconds of booting, press and hold the paddle or the keyer.
3) MORCONI will respond with a number between 0 and 9. Keep holding the paddle until you hear the number corresponding the desired configuration.
4) Release the paddle to activate the selected configuration. MORCONI will retain this selection for the next boot.
5) Configuration 0 corresponds to the standard MORCONI.CFG file. If a configuration file is missing or incorrect, the system will revert to MORCONI.CFG. - Upon boot, MORCONI sends the release number and the active configuration in the format "CFXXX/Y", where:
-- CF stands for Client Flex,
-- **** represents the release number,
-- Y indicates the active configuration (e.g., CF180/0). - A specific debounce time for memory and PTT buttons can now be set.
Add 'Buttons Debounce: XX' to the configuration files, where XX is the debounce time in milliseconds. - The internal keyer is even more responsive.

Max,
I get a bit confused on what to down load. I went to
www.morconi.com/downloads
Theres several files to download. Marconi-flex.ino.hex, Marconi.cfg, Marconi1.cfg, Marconi2.cfg etc.
Which one do I download for flex, all of them or just Marconi-flex?
Thanks

Maybe I can help, You need all the files, the HEX file loads to the Teensy, the Config files are for the 8 different memories / Modes of operation you can have controlled by the push buttons, You want to Edit all eight of these with your local information and settings, the .exe file is of course the Teensy Loader program this lets you load the .HEX Firmware onto the Teensy.
There is a whole different directory for the FLEX files and the ALLRIGS files, just make sure your in the FLEX directory.

Hi Rich,
I'm sorry the update process is a bit confusing. I’ll improve the Q&A section on the MORCONI website to make it clearer.
But no worries—I’ll break it down for you!Bret already gave you a good answer, but here’s a quick summary:
MORCONI-Flex.ino.hex – This is the firmware file you need to upload using Teensy.exe.
The MORCONI.CFG and MORCONI1.CFG / MORCONI9.CFG files are configuration files:
🔹 MORCONI.CFG – The default configuration file.
🔹 MORCONI1.CFG / MORCONI9.CFG – Optional additional configurations for switching between different setups. If you're just updating your firmware and keeping your current settings, you don’t need to download the config files. However, if you want to start fresh or test new settings, you may want to use them.
Important: If you’re using your existing config file, please check the release notes for any changes that might require updates.
Let me know if you need any help!
