Anyone using ezDV with a direct-connected radio?
Hi guys… I just received my ezDV module from TAPR and was reading through the configuation notes. They seem to prefer a 'networked connected' Flex (e.g. to a router/switch on local WiFI and/or internet).
My config has the Flex directly connected to the PC via ethernet cable.
Anyone know how to use ezDV with a directly-connected Flex?
Or do I need to put the radio on the WiFi network to make this work?
Thanks

I would not put the radio on WiFi but I would connect it to a network switch. Then, you can add the ezDV to the same network.

Hi Mike… I just talked to the folks @ ezDV and they said that yes, with the added W5500 Ethernet module, and the 1.1.0 firmware, that's how it can be done. So, I've got the W5500 on order!
My goal is to continue to keep the radio 'off the Internet' and on a separate, wired network of its own.

I have to convert mine to hard wired.
did I mention … I HATE WIFI! :)
Today, I was testing the 8600 at low power on a dummy load (aka — not an RFI issue) on a dedicated laptop on WiFi. The RX audio was breaking up and it would lose connections to the radio. There is no reason for my zero loaded Eero MESH to have an issue doing this reliably. But, it did. (I might rip it all out)
I added a USB-C - LAN adapter and plugged the Laptop in. Perfect after that.
This morning confirmed why I hate WiFi. LOL

Hi Don, can you pass on any info on how to add the W5500 to the ezDV? I can't seem to find it though I have read it before somewhere. direct PM wx7yATwx7y.net
Mike, I tried the Eero MESH and it lasted a couple day and NOTHING but dropout issues, I ripped it out, sent it back to Amazon and went back to the reliable and cheaper ASUS 1800 routers in MESH configuration and they work GREAT, I have 4 Router in MESH around the house and out in the Shops, and I can use the Maestro and IOS devices anywhere on the property with excellent results.

Hi Bret…at the end of the ezDV user manusl (https://tmiw.github.io/ezdv/), section 8, there is a description of how to connect the W5500 unit to the ezDV unit. I haven't done it yet (I need molex connectors, and I need to figure out how to house the W5500 unit) as the W5500 i got didn't come with any pinouts, instructions, etc. — just the unit.
PS— just found the pinout. It's screened on the 'other' side of the board. :-) OK, so now I just need to find molex connectors and wire, etc. Then figure out a box for it….
