Flex has indicated that improvements in NB NR NF will be possible with additional processor power in the 8000 radios but do not expect that to be in the initial versions of the software.

Joe, the Noise Reduction, Notch Filter and Noise blanker are done in the firmware and software of the radio. Until they update SmartSDR in the radio and on the pc, those features will work the same as they currently do. The new hardware in the radios should allow for better processing of DSP functions. But, still it will depend on what type of processing ( algorithms) the developers use. If they use something like Warren Pratt's WDSP library's Noise Reduction 2, then Flex users could get DSP performance similar to NR2 in Thetis. That would be a fantastic improvement over the current Noise Reduction in SmartSDR. ( which is itself is quite good. Just not on the same level as NR2)
Unfortunately, it would appear that this kind of improvement will only be available in the new hardware. Which is unfortunate as I firmly believe the current generation of Flex radios ( 6000 series) has hardware that is more than capable of handling the processing needed for Noise reduction 2. But, Flex Radio may have to sacrifice some other things in SmartSDR to make it happen.

I had 6400M and 6600M both nice radios
I sold and went to 890 Kenwood that radio disappointed me in NR area it trouble bad
Perhaps it’s best I look for nice used 6400M or 6600M I’m not interested in using the radio with a computer I don’t have a home computer or Wi-Fi at home
Knowing me I just keep my pre order going on 8400M
Joe
I enjoy everyone input
