How can I improve my audio and get rid of the distorted when on my hotspot

I’m told my Flex Maestro sounds distorted and low while using my iPhone hotspot

First, thing. while on the air, what does the Mic Level meter show? My guess is that you have the Mic gain too high and are overdriving the audio codec in the phone.
Next I would put the Radio into Full Duplex Mode so that you can listen to the RF being transmitted. This is how to do it on a PC, but it can also be done in iOS. Check the iOS manual on how to turn on FDX.
