SD-Card backup question ...

edited February 2024 in FLEX-6000 Signature Series

I just bought an SD-Card backup for our club's remote Flex 6400 and I have two questioons:

  1. Can we backup the SD-Card we just bought to a computer in order to be able to format and reflash the one we would have replaced?
  2. Is the SD-Card locked to the FW version when it's shipped?

We currently use 3.6.8 so will this SD Card be useful if we update the radio in the future? If not, how do we handle the SD-Card?

We plan to leave the backup SD Card in a sealed container near the radio, so if one our our maintenance techs heading up Palomar Mountain (~5500 ft) for maintainance, that person will have access to the SD Card in the unlikely event the internal card gets corrupted.

    1. Yes, you should be able to do that. Keep in mind, it is paired to your actual radio.
    2. Yes, but no. Should you have to use it, just install the SD card in the radio and turn on the radio. Start your current version of SmartSDR and do an update and you'll be caught up.

All the SD card issues have been resolved. Sometimes there are actual media hardware failures on the card, but even those have fallen to just a trickle.

Thanks Mike ... I just received the SD-Card and we will leave it at the remote site in a sealed container. If we ever have an issue and the tech is up there, he won't live the frustration of having to drive back down, and up again :-)
