Electrical protection for PGXL

Member ✭✭

Besides having a dedicated branch circuit properly sized for the PGXL, is anyone else using any surge/inrush current protection?

Thanks

To protect a different amplifier, I installed a "whole house" (240 vac plus ground) surge suppressor near the new outlet. The ground connected to the single point station ground. It worked well for years, my rig wasn't zapped and nothing caught fire. On the other hand, I don't know how many surges we really had.

Using past tense since I had to pull it out when we moved house.

I have a 'whole house' surge protector installed at the main service panel of the facility where my station is located (3 phase 208Y service) and I have an isolated ground between that main service panel and the subpanel in the 'radio shack' room. The station single point ground bus is also connected to the radio shack sub panel ground.

I was waiting for the "but then..." part of your story since it was in past tense. 😅 Glad to know it worked for you. Thanks for the input!
