Migrate SmartSDR to a new Windows computer
Can someone point me to the appropriate documentation for moving the software from one PC to another?

Export your Profiles using Profiles / Import - Export Profiles menu (assuming you use them), save to an external drive.
Go to C:\Users\computer-name\AppData\Roaming\FlexRadio Systems directory
Back up CAT.settings, DAX.settings and SSDR.settings to an external drive.
Install latest v3 or v2 version, depending on which you use.
Open and close SmartSDR. Replace the *.settings files from your back up in the above location.
Re launch SmartSDR and use the Profile menu ton import from your back up.
Should be good to go. I just did it and no issues here.

I would be careful with moving the files from AppData.
You could have issues with com port conflicts and that is not the method that is approved by FlexRadio. This would impact CAT stability.

... so what IS the method that is approved by FlexRadio?0

@KA9FOX: transferring CAT.settings is not a good idea (see above). I would recommend creating new CAT COM ports, example: CAT port COM4, TCP port 5002, PTT port COM5, WinKeyer port COM11…

- Install SmartSDR on the new computer
- Start SmartSDR and connect to the radio
- Your Profiles will still be there.
As for CAT and DAX, none of this can be migrated and should not be tried. Trying to work around this will only be painful.
The only 'solution' is to clone the old computer and do a bare metal recovery. If you know what that is and have done it before, that might work, but Windows might not be happy.
The right way, after installing SmartSDR
- Build your CAT ports as required or as you need them
- Install your Logbook and connect it with CAT
- Install all you digital programs one at a time. Make sure you get the new latest version and create a CAT port as required for each program.
This is not that painful and every digital program is the same. It needs RX Audio, TX Audio and CAT. Fortunately, you can reliably use CAT to control PTT and no need to assign an RS232 port just for CAT.
For me, I do NOT use any AV other than Defender that comes with Windows. Since my computer is already behind a Firewall, I turn off all Windows Firewalls and I make sure my NIC card is tagged as a Private Network.
This has proven to be very reliable and fast (AV is CPU intensive) and all our computers are configured this way and have been for a very LONG time. Even the XYL likes her's. :)
