I have purchased a Flex 6300 from a SK estate.

I have purchased a Flex 6300 from a SK estate. How do I reset it so I can operate it? It appears locked to the SK account.

Have you connected both your computer and 6500 by ethernet cable to your router? Have you downloaded SmartSDR to your computer? Does the 6500 power up when connected to your power supply?

Well come to the world of FLEX.

After SSDR starts, double left click on the SKs call sign by "STATION:"(lower central of the panadapter display) . The old call sign should be high lited in BLUE. Type your call sign in.

Under the "Settings" drop down menu (top right side of SSDR), click on "radio setup " then the radio tab on the new PoP up. In the radio identification area change the "Callsign" and "nickname" of the radio.

Your call sign should now be displayed on the SSDR screen.

One thing you might want to do is to perform a factory reset, then do the items mentioned by Gayle. That way you get a "new" transceiver and you don't have to worry about anything strange that may have been set by the previous owner.

@W3XOX Welcome to your new radio

You should do a full reset on it by following these instructions. https://helpdesk.flexradio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020078612-How-to-Completely-Reset-a-FLEX-6000#:~:text=Press%20and%20hold%20the%20Power%20button%20for%20approximately%205%20seconds,radio%20to%20continue%20booting%20normally.

Next, follow chapter 9 in the SmartSDR manual on how to add your own SmartLink account. That will remove the previous owner from the radio. Since he did not do that before he shipped it to you, you can disassociate the radio from his account.

We have a TON of helpful videos on our YouTube channel that you may want to look at. There is an intro to SmartSDR 101 which is a good place to start.

The radio is not tied to an individual. The internal software of the radio is licensed to the radio, not a person by Flex. Smartlink allows remote operation of the radio, and requires a login to access the radio. Local operation does not require any login.

Thanks to all that commented. I got it figured out.
I am new to flex so when I initially started I downloaded version 3 of the software thinking it was the latest and that is what I need. What I didn't realize was that it needed to match what was licensed to the radio, in my case it was version 1.
So downloaded version 1 and it connected right away. I then upgraded to version 3 and all is good.
One evening in and I'm loving this radio already. I can hardly wait to really get to know it.

Thanks again to all that commented.
