Delay using Flex 6400 and Maestro...why?
While monitoring the same frequency on both the Flex 6400 and Maestro (vertical antenna) at the same time as the Icom 706 MIIG (longwire) I heard a delay of about a half second on the Flex. I had the Maestro connected to the Flex 6400 by the CAT5 cable. I was not using the WiFi. What is the cause of the delay?

Mike;
There are several discussions here about this delay. Some of it is due to the processing in the flex, the nature of sdr processing. The filter settings can be adjusted to reduce it some, as will using a speaker connected directly to the radio to avoid delay in the Maestro, or SmartSDR if you use that.

Hi Mike, one thing to try, if you haven't already, is to listen to the audio from either the speaker or headphone jack on the back of the 6400. If you listen to the audio from the computer speakers or the maestro, you are adding latency from the operating system. Audio from the radio itself will have some latency, but nothing like what the computer has.

There is delay when process the audio through windows. This is part of the Windows OS, not SmartSDR.
As Len mentioned, you will find that the audio from the back of the radio is much faster.
